Is your period late? Have you taken an over-the-counter pregnancy test and the result was positive? We suggest you still take a free and confidential pregnancy test at Coweta Pregnancy Services and here’s why.

Free and Confidential Pregnancy Testing

Our medically-certified, urine-based pregnancy tests will be administered by nurses, when available. Although at-home pregnancy tests have improved, our tests are 99% accurate so you can be assured you are getting the most accurate results. Many women either take the over-the-counter tests too soon or don’t follow the directions correctly.

Since our tests are free, you have nothing to lose by verifying your results with us. In fact, upon approval, you will be provided with a written “verification” of your positive pregnancy test.

The Best Time to Take a Pregnancy Test

We ask that you wait at least a week after your first missed period to come in for a pregnancy test. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body begins to produce the human pregnancy hormone known as hCG. The production of this hormone starts right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus.

A pregnancy test measures the amount of hCG in your urine. Although our tests are laboratory rated and 99% accurate, your body needs time to build up the hCG hormone. This is why it is important to wait a few days after your missed period to take the test. If you take it too early, you may get a false negative result because the level of hCG hormone hasn’t increased enough to be detected.

What Happens if the Test is Positive?

Seeing a positive test result can be extremely overwhelming, especially if your pregnancy is unplanned. However, don’t panic because we’re here to offer support and provide you with information to help you process your next steps.

After a positive pregnancy test, we will administer a free and confidential ultrasound to verify your pregnancy, determine how far along the pregnancy is, and check if it is viable. Then, we can sit down and discuss your options.

We truly care about you and do not want you to make this very important decision alone. We will answer all of your questions. No matter what you choose to do, we are here to support you and help you along the way.
